PRESIDENT
RODNEY COCKS

I’ve been a member of the WPA since the first meeting and a resident of Wandi for over 30 years I have seen many changes in the area. The Wandi boundary was moved many years ago taking in part of Mandogalup, then being developed into a ribbon of residential along the freeway. This area has bought with it hundreds of new Wandi residents with future facilities being shops and schools. Many of the larger Special Rural properties have been subdivided into 2 hectare lots but still the area has retained its special feel of the bush; we are fortunate to be able to live in such an environment close to amenities. The WPA has made many decisions on behalf of the community with the idea of retaining the Wandi lifestyle; they have done a great job over the years.

VICE PRESIDENT
LES WHIDDETT

Member since 1991
I have lived in the area for over 25 years, seeing many changes to our rural lifestyle. The coming of the freeway, the Mandurah line and now the encroachment of suburbia. We go on to face new challenges with the arrival of Honeywood.

I myself am actively involved in many of our local groups and clubs. Including that of the Wandi Landcare, Marquetry Club and the Wandi Wood Turners.

Les accepted Life Membership of the WPA in October 2018

TREASURER
GLENDA WELLMAN

I have lived in Wandi with my husband Peter and our three children since January 1993.   Our three children have grown up in this wonderful community and have made many great friends.   We all love the country atmosphere and the community vibe that is Wandi.  I have been involved with the Wandi Progress Assoc. in previous years while our children were young, holding the positions of Committee Member, Treasurer and President.  Our son went to the local Wandi Play Group after this group was started.  I have now retired from the work force as an Office Manager (including bookkeeping and accounts) and I have some spare time to can give back to our Wandi Community helping in areas that I can.  This is a special area, and it would be great to keep it that way.

SECRETARY
MARK WELLS

I along with my wife and three sons moved to Anketell in 2001.  For my wife it was a homecoming as she was raised in the district.  We joined the Wandi Progress Association soon after our arrival in Anketell. Until recently our involvement with the WPA has been limited to participation in Clean Up Australia days, Landcare plantings and social activities organised by the WPA due to other commitments.  From April 2018 I have been blessed with more spare time and have decided to join the WPA committee to provide input and assist with the management of facilities that benefit our corner of the City of Kwinana.

I originally became involved in the area through Wandi Landcare; tree planting, bush care workshops and crazy as it sounds enjoyed times as a group participant removing pig face from the Wandi bush.
I was impressed by the facilities a group of volunteer committee members managed to achieve for the residents of Wandi so after a few years with Landcare I joined the committee.
I think helping out on the busy bee’s, Clean up Australia Days & Tree planting is an opportunity of free exercise for all, and every little bit helps.

COMMITTEE MEMBER
DEBBIE COCKS

Member since 1991
I have been on the WPA since 1991 being involved in the organization of the Wandi Fair for many years and in more recent times being the booking agent for the Wandi Community Hall, Clubrooms, Resource Centre, Tennis Courts, Woodworkers Shed and Grounds. I’ve seen the site develop from a sparse sandy area to one that services in
excess of 15,000 people a year, all run by volunteers.

COMMITTEE MEMBER
DEBBIE TENTORI

I have lived in Wandi since 2008 and joined the Wandi Progress Association in 2013.  I grew up living in the country and just love living in Wandi as I can have the best of both worlds, living in the bush and only having the city not far away.  Since joining the WPA I have been involved in things such as coordinating “Clean Up Australia”, planting trees and just recently helping to organise Neighbour Day.  I love the relaxing lifestyle and the community spirit that exists in Wandi.  It is always a pleasure to come home.

We moved out to Wandi in 2008 to get away from suburban high density living. Best move we ever made. I am a real city-slicker, not used to a rural lifestyle, but I am learning all the time and enjoying it 100%. I have a keen interest in woodworking and have become a member of the local Triton club. I'm also a Volunteer FireFighter with the Mandogalup Bushfire Brigade. In the last two years I have seen a lot of bushland devestation from fires. However, as a Landcare member I've seen the beauty of the bushland and have had opportunities to attend events, plantings and workshops which helps me take care of some bushland and help with its rejuvenation. Oh, and I also work full time as a database administrator for the Education Department.
